Dr. Harrell is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio where she was born and raised. She grew up surrounded by family pets from a very small age and was fascinated by her dad rescuing wildlife in need.
Dr. Harrell also had a strong connection to marine wildlife spending summers in Florida and especially loved the Florida manatee. For that reason, she was drawn to the east coast to University of North Carolina at Wilmington where she earned a BS degree in Marine Biology. After her first year in undergrad, she interned at a marine mammal and sea turtle rehabilitation center and realized that she enjoyed the medicine as much as working with these unique species. This interest is what led her on her path to veterinary school. She attended the Ohio State University Veterinary School and graduated in 2008. While she still enjoys working with wildlife and the conservation aspect of medicine, she also really enjoys working with family pets (including rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, hamsters, chickens and ducks)!
Dr. Harrell has been practicing in San Jose, San Francisco and Los Gatos for the past 10 years. She recently relocated to Bend with her adventure-loving fiance, bull terrier mix Ophelia and orange tabby Howie and they are all loving it here!In her spare time, you will likely find her hiking, climbing, paddling, trail running, camping, snowboarding or traveling!
