Success Stories
Lil' Janie
Lil' Janie, our amputee was adopted last week on Oct 19th. She is a shy but loving female kitty who needed her forever home. She was surrendered to Blue Sky after someone shot her in the leg. We had to amputate her front right leg it was so badly damaged. After that we spayed her, FELV/FIV tested her (she was negative!) and gave her all of her vaccines.
Fergie
Here's our girl Fergie held by our assistant Kristina, finally getting a little of the love that she deserves. She has a wonderful black coat sprinkled heavily with gray snowflakes. Fergie came to live with us after she was dropped off as a starving and emaciated 4 week old kitten one evening at the Animal Emergency Clinic.
Our lead technician Jennifer came to the rescue and nominated her for our Good Samaritan Fund. She lived with us at Blue Sky Veterinary Clinic for 2 months before being adopted by a caring woman and traveling to Baker City.
Whiskers
Whiskers came from The Humane Society of the Ochocos as a stray and needed a home. We took him in, tested him for feline AIDS and leukemia, then got him caught up on his vaccinations. We kept him for approximately two months until we could find the perfect home for him.
Parker
Parker was found at Tumalo State Park with an injury to his left hind leg. We took him in and radiographed his leg to find a fractured tibia. Dr. Voorhis did the surgery to save his leg and everything went great! He stayed with us, recovering day by day, not even complaining about being in a kennel, and now walks with only a slight limp. He was happy as long as he had his sleeping bag and got to meow orders at us! We became very attached to Parker - it was hard to let him go as he was loved by all! Eventually he went to live in rural Washington with a family member.
Marmalade
Marmalade came in after being injured by a car's fan belt in the winter cold. His owners surrendered him to us, and at just 10 weeks old we had to give him a chance. Dr. Perkins took on his special needs and repaired his damaged leg. Yet again, we became quite attached and let the silly boy run around the clinic to potentially become our new mascot. Unfortunately, Marmalade was a little too brave and would scare the little dogs in the waiting room. He found a forever home with one of our technicians' parents, in Bend - so we still get to see him often!
Wimbly, Boober, Gobo and Kahlua
These four kittens were only five weeks old when their mother was killed by a dog. We took them in and had them tested, vaccinated, dewormed and neutered (or spayed). They lived with us for almost three months while growing and thriving. During kitten season it was hard to find people to adopt them even though they were so cute! We are pleased to say that they have now all been adopted to loving homes.
Trinity
Trinity was brought back from a RAVS trip where one of our technicians volunteered. She was one of a litter that was left in a river to drown, but some of them made it and were rescued by the team. She was an adorable kitten who quickly made it into the hearts of a forever mom and dad.
Purrscilla, Elvis and Starburst
These three cats were all living at The Humane Society of the Ochocos when we took them to help find them homes. After getting them all caught up on vaccinations and health care they all found forever homes.
